Kevin Biggs was named the head coach of the Montreal Phoenix before the start of the 2012 Quebec Senior Lacrosse League season. I talked to him last night, and he said he was enjoying the season.
“It has been great so far” he said “Our team, I could not expect anything more at this point in the season. We have a very young team and most guys have not played at this level before and to be where we are at this  point is a credit to the players hard work.”
Montreal is 5-5-1 on the season, and they won this week against the Cornwall Island Redmen. “We ran very well got lots of transitions chances and our defence played good limiting good chances.” he said.
“It will be tough going back to face the Redman again in their barn, they are a highly skilled team with lots of very skilled guys up front. We will have to stop their transition game and and play good D.”
There are five games left in the season, and Biggs is ready for them. “We have tough last 5 games leading into the play offs all we are hoping for is to be a competative team in the play offs and build on the years to come.”
“When I took this team I did not know what I was getting but Tim Bergin, Curtis Singleton, Bryson Goodman have been good and Brett Perras our tender, he is the reason we are at 500 ,he has been outstanding for us but Zack Winquist is a player that nobody has ever seen and the kid does everything right if he played in the OLA or out west he could play NLL.”
