Are Kavanagh and Staats Making a Late Run at the Tewaaraton?

May 1, 2014

Can you believe we only have a week left until Selection Sunday? It feels like ages since the season started back in February and just as the weather has started to heat up, so to has the games we’ve seen and the players performances. Miles Thompson continues to pile up the points in chuncks, Jordan Wolf looks to be playing his best lacrosse when his team needs it most and…

ACC Mashup Following Conference Play; Heading Into Tournament Games

April 28, 2014

Just a short month ago, Syracuse sat at 4-3 overall and 0-3 in the ACC. Their scoring margin was -6 but that reasonable statistic does not show the magnitude of the 16-8 loss to Maryland, 17-12 loss to Virginia and 21-7 loss to Duke. I’ve watched a lot of lacrosse in my life and I can definitively say that Maryland-SU and Duke-SU games easily top my list of the two…

Machine Grab First Win of 2014 15-8 Over Hounds

After advancing to Major League Lacrosse’s championship game last season, the Charlotte Hounds expected to start off the 2014 season as a team ready to take that next step. Instead, it was the Ohio Machine that looked like a much-improved team Saturday, beating up the inconsistent and struggling Hounds early in a 15-8 season-opening victory at American Legion Memorial Stadium. The Machine (1-0), now in their third MLL season, beat Charlotte…

Chamberlain: Conference Playoffs Begin

April 24, 2014

Friday Night Lights Kicks off an action packed Weekend of College and Pro Action Patriot League Playoffs Army vs. Lehigh I like Lehigh in this matchup between two very well coached teams. Lehigh is balanced on offense and has strong goaltending with junior Matt Poillion. My prediction is Lehigh by three. Loyola vs. Colgate I made the mistake of not picking Loyola in the regular season matchup. I’m not going…

April 24, 2014

See where your favorite teams stand heading into the postseason: 1) Duke (12-2)—The Blue Devils will take on Syracuse for the third time in less than a year. Wonder how these new rivals will treat each other going forward. Brendan Fowler could be in for a fight as Frank Daddio and the Orange faceoff unit have played at a high level since the ‘Syracuse Slaughter’ a month ago. 2) Loyola…

Scott Kahoe (Georgetown and Syracuse) controlled tempo through the midfield when he had the ball. Andrew Scalley had an impressive showing against the Bayhawks during the second game of the scrimmage. He was able to capitalize on his opportunities,…

MLL Season Preview: Charlotte Hounds

April 21, 2014

While the Charlotte Hounds came within a game of winning the Major League Lacrosse championship last season, Hounds management didn’t consider their work done. With the Hounds opening their season April 26 against the Ohio Machine at Charlotte’s American Legion Memorial Stadium, they’ve made moves that general manager Wade Leaphart and coach Mike Cerino hope will get them to the next level. Most of last year’s starting lineup—which finished 7-7…
