MCLA Fall Ball: Metro State U. (Denver) Wins Strong vs. In-Conference Rival Johnson Wales U.

November 5, 2014

Photo Credit:  Di Miller On Sunday November 2, Metropolitan State University of Denver Men’s Lacrosse (5-1) took on rival Johnson Wales University at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City.  It was a cold night and factoring in the time change, made for an interesting game.  Turf field #8 that MSU calls home is poorly lit making the late start to the game a challenge for both teams.  MSU ended…

MCLA Game Notes: Metro State Takes on Johnson & Wales in Fall Ball Scrimmage

November 3, 2014

This was my (Ian Neadle) first time seeing MCLA lacrosse in person. I always considered a downgrade from the NCAA level. I was wrong. The players are smaller and the intensity is lower. However, the referees are not qualified (in my opinion) to call a game with higher intensity such as NCAA (some officials were quite terrible). The heart and will are there, and the players make the most of…

Can LXM Survive After Merging with the MLL?

October 30, 2014

This is the time of year when there is a lull in the professional lacrosse world.  The MLL has wrapped up and the NLL preseason hasn’t officially started.  Right about now is typically when the LXM Pro Tour has started up in the past to bring high level lacrosse to non-traditional areas around the country.  We reached out to Adrenaline, who is the force behind LXM to see what their…

Prospecting 2014: Top NLL Transition Players

October 28, 2014

Transition is an interesting position in the NLL.  Every team approaches it differently as some make them glorified defenders or just forwards that won’t get yelled at if they are stuck in the back end of the floor.  Others such as Minnesota and Buffalo make them a large part of how they want to act as a team by causing turnovers, pushing the ball up the floor and creating mismatches…

October 23, 2014

Photo Credit:  Di Miller On Saturday October 18, the Metropolitan State University of Denver Roadrunners (3-1) played their second game of a double-header against the University of Wyoming Cowboys.  MSU had just come off a close loss to the UNC Bears 8-6 and wanted to win this game.  After the first game, they went over plays; ground balls; defensive slides; passing; and working as a team.  Obviously whatever Head Coach…

The Colorado Mammoth announced on Wednesday that forward Eric Law, who signed with the team in August, will miss at least the first month of the season recovering from surgery to repair an injured shoulder. Will Draft Picks Be Key for Mammoth in 2015?

October 13, 2014

The Colorado Mammoth have been extremely busy over the last month or so with the free-agent draft and the NLL Entry Draft. It was known that the team had some difficulties during the 2013-2014 season with the change in coaching staff; Casey Powell’s departure; the goalie controversy; and Adam Jones injury causing him to miss at least one month during the midseason. But the Mammoth have made some stellar moves…

October 9, 2014

Photo Credit:  Diane Miller On September 2, the Colorado Mammoth drafted Terry Ellis in the fifth round 42nd overall in this year’s NLL Entry Draft.  So just what does Ellis bring to the Mammoth?  He’s already played at the professional level having been drafted by the Denver Outlaws in the seventh round of the MLL Collegiate Draft held this January.  He played two games for the Outlaws in 2014 and…
