On Saturday afternoon, the Albany Great Danes pulled off the upset over the #3 Loyola Greyhounds in Maryland. We caught some photos of the action including the huge day from the Thompson trio.
This match up was a showcase of the Thompson Trio and Loyola’s struggles to find offensive opportunities. Albany took the lead early, commanding 2-0. Then, at 2:30 in the first, Loyola finally answered back when #34 Pat Laconi found the back of the net. Just a short month ago, Syracuse sat at 4-3 overall and 0-3 in the ACC. Their scoring margin was -6 but that reasonable statistic does not show the magnitude of the 16-8 loss to Maryland, 17-12 loss to Virginia and 21-7 loss to Duke.
