As the season is wrapping up and the Florida Launch get ready to take the field for their last game, you can’t help but see the huge come back the team has made this past month. Although it was a little too late in the season for this come back to bring them to the final four, it helps give the team a tip on what they should do for next year.
The Launch ended the 2014 season with 5 wins and 9 losses. The team once again journied down that same path. They are at 4-9 hoping to get the last win of the season this saturday, against the Rochester Rattlers.
Florida started off the season with a strong roster. The only problem is a strong roster is nothing if the team doesn’t form as one. The other trouble is, once Florida slowly slipped away from the leaderboard they had trouble keeping their heads up.
What they lacked most of the season was a strong group of guys on attack. They always had Kieran McArdle and Casey Powell but only having two main guys makes it too easy for the opponents to read and understand who is going to have the ball when. Once the time was able to pick the thompson brothers up it gave the team a little more flexibility
It was great seeing what Austin Kaut can do for the team. While it wasnt fun to sww Brett Queener get injured, watching Kaut prove he belongs on the team has been wonderful. He’s definitely a strong goalie and I hope to see more from him in the coming seasons.
With talk about Casey Powell possibly going back into retirement, this could possibly hurt the team come next year. Besides that, there is also talk about a possible expansion. If an expansion happens, teams will be moving and trading players. Not a single team will look the same as they do this year. If Florida can hold on to the Thompson brothers, Powell, McArdle, Queener, Kaut, and Durkin they could be in good shape for the beginning of the season.
