Rebels Take Game 1 of OJBLL West Finals

Danton Miller netted a hat trick including the game winner as the Six Nations Rebels knocked off the Orangeville Northmen to jump out to a 1-0 lead in the OJBLL West Finals last night at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena. Miller also chipped in with an assist for a four point night. Miller now has 28 points in the 2015 postseason, tied for tenth among all playoff scorers.

Leading the way for the Rebels Mitch Green, who also buried a hat trick while adding a pair of helpers for five points. Green also found the back of the empty net to put the icing on the cake and clinch the opening contest for the Rebs. Green improved his playoff point total to 35, good enough for fifth in OJBLL postseason scoring.

Six Nations’ goaltender Briley Miller earned his seventh career playoff victory, shutting down Orangeville 28 times on 34 attempts.

On the other side of the floor, Orangeville netminder Rylan Hartley was solid, making 35 stops on 42 shots in the losing effort. Mike Sutton led the Northmen offense with three points while a handful of others trailed behind with two(Grayson Houghton, Courtney Colin, Todd Greer, Kevin Conroy and Shane Hillis).

The Rebels quest for their fifth straight Founder’s Cup title continues on Monday night as they travel to Orangeville in hopes to take a commanding 2-0 lead on the Northmen.
