The Long Island Lizards have now won three major awards before Championship Weekend- Rookie of the Year, Coach of the Year, and announced today, goalie of the year.
Joe Spallina is a first year head coach with the Lizards who is the 2012 MLL Head Coach of the year. Spallina led the Lizards to a fourth seed in the playoffs and an 8-6 record.
Matt Gibson had thirty three points and eighteen goals to lead all rookies in the league. He has become a huge part of the Lizards attack that helped them get to the playoffs. Gibson won rookie of the week twice this season.
Drew Adams wins back to back goaltender of the year, just the third goalie to receive that honor. He was fourth in the league in goals against average and third in saves with 179.
Adams had a season high seventeen saves against Charlotte in May and had ten saves or more in eleven of the fourteen games he played in.
