Teams continued to make moves in the NLL yesterday as the roster deadline came to a close, and the Colorado Mammoth made one of the more surprising moves by signing veteran defenseman Nick Carlson.
Carlson last played in 2011 and played all nine seasons of his career with the Mammoth, except his rookie season with the New York Saints. Over his career, Carlson accumulated 137 points and 425 loose balls.
Carlson takes the roster spot of Mike McNamara who was placed on Injured Reserve this past week. In other Mammoth injury news, Casey Powell is expected to return next weekend when the Mammoth are back in action. Adam Jones will also be back after missing eight weeks; he suffered a setback last week with an eye injury.
Colorado has allowed the most goals in the West with 137, and not all of it has been goaltending. Carlson adds some veteran depth to the team with McNamara hurt and the defense needing to see improvement.
