The Hamilton Nationals are looking to open their season at 3-0 as they take on the Charlotte Hounds this morning with an early start at 11am. It will be the Nationals second home game of the season after they defeated New York at home last week.
The Hounds are coming off of their second loss of the season last week, a loss to Rochester, and are now 1-2 on the season. If the Nationals win, they will be tied for first with Chesapeake and Denver, and if those teams lose, Hamilton would overtake them.
Last week the Hounds lost 12-11 but it wasn’t the fault of attackman Ryan Young who scored 7 goals. The Hounds offense, led by Young, Matt Danowski and Peet Poillon, is starting to click.
For the Nationals, Kevin Crowley scored a two point goal in the waning seconds to win it for Hamilton. He has been a star for the Nats all season, and this week they should have Cody Jamieson and Stephen Keogh back in their lineup.
They also activated rookies Tucker Durkin and Ried Acton now that their NCAA seasons are over, while the Hounds also activated Mike Sawyer from the college inactive list.
