This week we catch you up with all the important news around each Major League Lacrosse team, heading into week six of the season.
Boston Cannons
* Head coach John Tucker said of goaltender Jordan Burke, “He’s done his job, that’s for sure” and that the Cannons need to play better for him. He says they are their own worst enemy, throwing balls away and making mistakes.
Charlotte Hounds
* On the MLL coaches call today it was said that Geoff Snider is day to day. Earlier this week we were told that he is out for sure this week and his return is yet to be determined.
Chesapeake Bayhawks
* The Bayhawks have a lot of injuries, with Stephen Peyser, Adam Rand, CJ Costabile and Peet Poillon out this week against Rochester.
Denver Outlaws
* Curtis Dickson will make his Outlaws debut in Charlotte this week playing attack.
* Brent Hikin, a draft pick out of Stevenson, will likely be the back up to Anthony Kelly with faceoffs since Stephen Robarge was traded.
* Ben McIntosh is not in this week, and head coach Jim Stagnita had this to say about it; “He’s obviously a very, very good offensive midfielder. He had great stats at Drexel. But we haven’t had any movement there yet. He lives in British Columbia, so it’s a little problematic. We’re working on it.”
Florida Launch
* Stan Ross mentioned that it will be a younger lineup with the rookies available.
* Ross did express concern about the defense, which gave up 18 goals to Rochester last week. “We need to find a way to play team defense. Everyone’s stellar individually but we need to unite”
* Brett Queener was pulled by Ross against the Rattlers just to change things up. He’s healthy and will start this week.
Ohio Machine
* The Machine have struggled in the faceoff dot all season, but head coach Bear Davis is not ready to give up on Eric O’Brien. “O’Brien is working overtime to be our guy; we’re not giving up on him” he stated this week.
New York Lizards
* Joe Spallina called out his team this week saying that they need to score more. He said “I want more shots from other players. It’s nice to have powerhouses but we need more scoring”
* Spallina mentioned how important the return of Tim Henderson was. He will be back in the lineup this week.
Rochester Rattlers
* Ty Thompson will not play this week after his brother Miles made his debut against Florida last week.
* Coach Tim Soudan said that they are trying to whittle down the attack unit and see who fits since they have about eight attackmen right now.
