The Ohio Machine are set to make their 2013 MLL season debut as they host the 1-0 Denver Outlaws. The Denver Outlaws are fresh off of a season-opener victory in which they posted twenty-one goals against the Charlotte Hounds. The Machine hope to slow down the fire power of the Outlaws in hopes of getting the victory in this one.
Offensive Preview
Obviously the offensive power of the Denver Outlaws is sky-high as their first game of the season proves. The Outlaws posted twenty-one goals without last season’s league MVP, Brendan Mundorf. Mundorf, who missed the opening game due to NLL commitments, will be with the team for the game in Ohio.
The Machine are fresh and ready to get going with their 2013 season. Steele Stanwick enters his second season in the MLL and looks to have a stellar season. Chazz Woodson, who was the only Machine player to record a point in every one of the Machine’s games last season is also back for his second season in Ohio. Jeff Ledwick who was the first overall selection in the supplemental Draft and will be making his MLL debut.
Defensive Preview
Denver’s defense is not as highlighted as their high-powered offense. They allowed sixteen goals to the Hounds last week. They seem to revolve around their offense in hopes that their offense will simply outscore the opposing offense and not worry too much about the defense. This could be troublesome against a team such as the Machine however.
The Machine’s defense is led by the veteran presences of Greg Bice and Kyle Hartzel. Bice is a groundball machine as he seems to always be the one who ends up with the ball in his stick. Hartzell set the record for points by a defensive player in MLL history for a season. Besides his ability to score and his excellence of shooting the two-point goal, he was selected to the first-team MLL all-defensive team.
Game time is set for 8 PM, on May 4th.
