This Saturday is the last day of the regular season in the MLL. The Denver Outlaws will go for the first undefeated regular season in MLL history, the Nationals will try to hold on to their second seed for the playoffs, and the Charlotte Hounds will look to continue their impressive play down the last few weeks of the of the regular season.
This weekend also looks to be a preview of the playoff teams, the playoffs start next weekend on August 24. The games this weekend are Denver vs. Hamilton and Charlotte vs. Chesapeake. The playoff seeding has not been set in stone as of yet.
The Hounds are heading into this weekend’s games in the fourth and final playoff spot. Charlotte at the moment has won three straight games and controlled their own destiny in the playoff run. Their game against the Bayhawks will be the second meeting this season between the two teams, and possibly not the last. If Charlotte wins this game they would then move ahead of Chesapeake in the standings. Both teams would be at 8-5 but the Hounds won the mid season matchup 16-15. This will easily be the biggest game in the young franchise’s history.
At the moment the Chesapeake Bayhawks sit in the third place seat. This is definitely a make or break weekend for them. If the Bayhawks win they will be in the second playoff game against the Hamilton Nationals, who they would be tied with, and they would put off taking on the Denver Outlaws tell the finals, possibly.
The Hamilton Nationals are taking on the undefeated Denver Outlaws this weekend and are looking to end the incredible run the Outlaws are on. The Nationals have taken a back seat this season to the outlaws, but they have been consistent and quietly impressive. They are the best team that no one is talking about much so far going into the playoffs. Hamilton wrote their own story this season and were able to secure their place as the number two seed in the playoffs.
The Denver Outlaws have be outstanding this season. They have set the MLL all-time single season record for most wins, this year. Along with that the Outlaws are looking to extend that with another win this weekend over the Nationals. This would be the first time any team has gone undefeated during the regular season. In the early season matchup the Outlaws demolished he Nationals 22-9, this does not seem to be repeated this week since the Nationals have won five of their last seven games.
This weekend will be a wild one with Charlotte playing with house money and the Outlaws going for immortality. The fun is just getting started because the playoffs start next week.
