President’s Cup: Redhawks Look for Series Win

The race for the President’s Cup is on as the championships between the Sr B leagues continue.Quebec Senior Lacrosse League

Today is game one of the QSLL championship as the Kahnawake Mohawks face off with the Capital Region Axemen. The series is a best of five finals. Kahnawake won the regular season title with an 11-3 record while the Axemen went 6-7-1. The series will begin at Kahnawake. Callum Crawford of the Mohawks led the QSLL in scoring while Tim Bergin was fourth in the league for the Axemen.

Other players of note with Kahnawake are Luke Wiles (Buffalo Bandits), Ty Thompson (Albany), Dean Hill (Vancouver Stealth) and Mike Thompson (Philadelphia Wings).

Can Am League

The Onondaga Redhawks lead the Newtown Golden Eagles 3-1 in their series. Last night the Redhawks added a 9-5 win and tonight they are looking to close out the CanAm league championship. Preston Lay has led the ‘Eagles with 16 points while Kori Halftown is second with 11.

The Redhawks have been led by Dwayne Porter and AJ Bucktooth with 12 points each while NLLer Brett Bucktooth has added nine points of his own.

Ontario Sr B

The St. Catharines Saints lead the Six Nations Rivermen 2-0 in their championship series. Game three is tonight at 7:30pm. Last game Brad Favero’s three points led the Saints to their 7-5 win along with the play of defenseman Ian Llord (Rochester Knighthawks). Before that Dylan Llord brought the Saints to their game one win along with the help of four points from Corey Fowler.

In game three tonight, the Rivermen need the help from their playoff scoring leaders Wayne Van Every and Delby Powless. They also need goalie Angus Goodleaf (Rochester Knighthawks) to step it up.
