Callum Robinson has made a name for himself at the Division III and World lacrosse level now he looks to do the same in Major League Lacrosse. In this past colligate draft, the Chesapeake Bayhawks took this 6-4, 245 pound Australian out of Stevenson University.
This spring will be Robinson’s third and final season at Stevenson but in just his two short years on campus he has done more than most do in a full four year college career. In 2013 Callum started on close defense helping Stevenson capture their first national championship over RIT. He recorded 73 groundballs and five points.
Robinson played in 24 games, helping him receives All-Commonwealth Conference First Team and USILA Honorable Mention All-American that spring season. In 2014 Stevenson did not win the championship but he did get All-Commonwealth Conference First Team along with USILA Second Team All-American, playing in 21 of the team’s 22, 71 ground balls and two goals.
At the World level, Callum suited up on defense for the Australian national team in Denver this summer where the team finished fourth in the tournament. This summer Robinson tested his skills against some of the best players in the game going head to head with both Paul Rabil and Lyle Thompson among others on the Canada, USA, and Iroquois team. Most summers (winters in Australia), Callum Robinson is tearing up the Men’s Field lacrosse leagues in Perth and around Australia so it would be pretty cool seeing him in a Bayhawks uniform. Also he will be learning from two of the game’s greatest defensive players and biggest tough guys around in Nicky Polanco and Brian Spallina.
