An exciting Major League Lacrosse regular season is over and here are your three stars of the final weekend of action.
3) Kieran McArdle (Florida) – 4 goals, 3 assists
Kieran McArdle helped his Florida Launch end the season with a bang, tallying seven points against Rochester Saturday. Six of the points came in the middle two quarters as the Launch outscored the Rattlers 11-5 on their way to an 18-11 victory, ending Rochester’s hopes of home field advantage in the MLL playoffs. McArdle wrapped up a stellar season with 65 points (47 goals, 18 assists) which is currently second in Major League Lacrosse. Florida ended its season red-hot by winning four of its last five games.
2) Drew Snider (Denver) – 5 goals, 1 assist, game-winning goal in overtime
Drew Snider scored a game-high five goals in the Outlaws’ thrilling come-from-behind 15-14 win over New York, including the game-winning goal just 26 seconds into overtime. Snider also had a hand in three of Denver’s seven fourth-quarter goals to help tie the score. Snider wrapped up his season with 46 points behind 35 goals and 11 assists. Honorable mention shout out goes to Matt Bocklett, who tallied nine groundballs and was part of a defense that allowed just six second-half shots on goal.
1) Steele Stanwick (Ohio) – 4 goals, 4 assists, game-winning goal with 1:26 remaining
Former Virginia Tewaaraton Award winner Steele Stanwick didn’t only fill up the stat sheet with a season-high eight points, but he also scored the game-winning goal to give his Ohio Machine a 17-16 win and a home game in the MLL semifinals. Seven of Stanwick’s eight points came over the final three quarters, dishing three assists in the second quarter and tallying a goal and assist in the fourth. The Machine were trailing 16-15 in the final minutes before Tom Schreiber tied the score and Stanwick won it with just 1:26 remaining. Ohio has now won three straight games to finish the regular season 9-5. On the year, Stanwick is third on the Machine with 44 points behind 14 goals and 30 assists.
