Only two teams were in action this week in the North American Lacrosse League, but that game made a big difference in the power rankings as we see a new team soar into first place.
1. Boston Rockhoppers 3-1
Boston, who had fallen to the Baltimore Bombers at home in week two, went into Baltimore and came out with a dominant 20-9 victory over a Baltimore team that showed many weaknesses. Baltimore has now beaten both Baltimore and Kentucky, and this week face the Rhode Island Kingfish for the first time, at home again.
2. Baltimore Bombers 2-1
Baltimore, who had looked invincible before this week, showed a lot of flaws in their beating against Boston. Their defense allowed too many open lanes and their offense couldn’t get shots off in the second half. And they’re without most of their top guns against Kentucky this weekend.
3. Kentucky Stickhorses 1-2
Kentucky has a great chance to move up in the power rankings and the standings this week. They added Jesse Guerin, though they are without Mike McClellan, and face a defeated Baltimore team without their top players. The Stickhorses smell blood, so expect to see them move up in the rankings.
4. Rhode Island Kingfish 0-2
Rhode Island played very tough against Baltimore two weeks ago. Can they go in and knock off the number one team in Boston? It’s the first time that the ‘Fish are playing in New England, so they have some motivation. However, is that enough to beat the Boston powerhouse?
