Hofstra will step out of Colonial Athletic Association play to continue its four-game home stand against Siena College this Saturday.
Hofstra (6-3, 3-0 CAA) is ranked 16th in the Warrior Division I Men’s Media Poll this week and ranks 16th in the NCAA in scoring defense, only allowing 8.78 GPG. The Pride struggled on the man-up opportunity against Towson going 0-3 and is ranked 47 with just 11 extra-man opportunity goals in nine games.
After being shut out of the conference tournament the past two years, Hofstra clinched a berth in this years tournament with a 9-7 win over conference foe Towson University last Saturday. Senior attacker Torin Varn and sophomore Sam Llinares both tallied two goals and one assist while sophomore red-shirt Korey Hendrickson netted two goals to lead the Pride past the Tigers.
Siena (6-3, 3-0 MAAC) is ranked 29th in scoring defense allowing 9.67 goals per game. In man-up offense, Siena is tied for 22nd in the nation with 14 EMO goals in nine games.
The Saints, coming off of a 10-7 victory over Canisius, saw red-shirt junior Richie Hurley’s third game of the season where he has scored seven-points and tallied his fourth hat trick of the season. He leads the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference in scoring with 48 points (18G, 30A) and is the nation’s fourth leading scorer.
The Pride and Saints will faceoff Saturday at James M. Shuart stadium at 7 pm.
