Week of 3/10/2014
The middle of March is upon us and that can only mean one thing: college lacrosse is HERE.
Tuesday, March 11
Bucknell vs. North Carolina 4 pm
The action gets started later today when Bucknell travels to Chapel Hill, North Carolina to face a Tar Heels unit that rebounded from their only loss of the season against Notre Dame by beating a strong Princeton team this past Friday.
Marquette vs. Duke 7 pm
Duke must be careful not to overlook a capable Marquette squad when they come to Durham later Tuesday evening. The Blue Devils will host conference foe UNC later in the week but in order to avoid a rare three-game skid into the UNC game they’ll have to take care of Marquette first.
Saturday, March 15
Syracuse vs. Johns Hopkins 12 pm; North Carolina vs. Duke 2 pm
Saturday March 15 is why we love lacrosse. The two matchups today need no introduction; their history is storied and the rivalries run deep. Simply put: make sure you’re available at 12 & 2 on Saturday.
Sunday, March 16
Virginia vs. Notre Dame 5 pm
The weekend concludes with a late afternoon showdown between the Cavaliers of Virginia and the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. Notre Dame has been consistently inconsistent all season—they’ve gone from impressive victory to underwhelming defeat twice already. In case you’re wondering which side of the see-saw they’re on now—their last game was a 10-7 home loss at the hands of Denver. Virginia on the other hand has performed well to date. With the exception of a three-point loss to Cornell over the weekend, Virginia has battled well in close contests all year coming out on top in each of their prior six games. They will look to right the ship on Sunday.
*All of the aforementioned games are available to watch on ESPN3
