NCAA: Yale Faces Providence

Yale:

Yale has been struggling quite a bit; their record 4-3 should not be the record. They have a lot of talent, but haven’t really had everybody together on the same page. Yale barely defeated Penn State, but it shows that they have the ability to keep fighting even when they are down. They have a tough task at hand on Tuesday. They face a 7-3 Providence team.

Yale needs to have a big game from Brandon Mangan. He was the hero in the comeback victory over Penn State. That win was a big time win for both the players and their confidence. The key to get a victory over an athletic group core is controlling their man up opportunities. Men up opportunities are huge in this game.

Providence:

What more can I say about the pressure that Providence put against different opponents? They have the one of the best group of individuals that plays together as a team. For the first time in team history Providence recorded its first win over a Big East opponent. That was huge; all of the players played together as a team and made team history. As we look forward toward this match up between Yale, Providence have a huge advantage with their skill-set.

Providence has the ability to run away with this game, if Yale does not bang the players around a little.

Keys to the game:

Providence needs to come out the gate attacking. When they attack the goal, many opponents have trouble playing from behind.

Yale needs to be aggressive on the defensive end. They have an excellent goalie that had set them up for a game winner. They need to slow the pace of the game and score first, because as we have seen Yale struggles when they are playing from behind
