The Calgary Roughnecks are now one game closer to winning their third NLL Champions Cup, and preventing history.  Saturday night the Roughnecks controlled the game and never allowed the two-time defending champions to ever get into a rhythm as they took Game 1 10-7.

Game 2 is this Saturday night at 8 pm from  The Blue Cross Arena in Rochester.  The Knighthawks will need to win Game 2 to force the 10 minute mini-game as they did versus Buffalo.

Three Stars from Game One.

Poulin Save

1—Mike Poulin (Goaltender)  Stopped 36-43 shots only allowing seven goals to the high-powered Knighthawk offense.  Poulin also made some very huge saves as the Knighthawks tried to make a run various times during the game, as well as limiting the Knighthawks chances on second and third opportunities.

2—Dane Dobbie (Forward) Three goals and one assist.  Two of the goals were scored 34 seconds apart to give the Roughnecks a 6-3 lead.  In the final quarter when the Hawks were only down by one, Dobbie recorded the hat-trick (also game winning goal), then three minutes later he assisted on a goal putting his Roughnecks back up by three.

Shawn Evans

3—Shawn Evans (Forward) One goal, four assists.  Evans assisted on all three first quarter goals.  Evans then recorded his fourth assist with 1:11 to go in the half giving the Roughnecks 7-3 lead that would carry through until the fourth quarter.  His lone goal came at 9:32 putting the Roughnecks up by four and sealing a Game 1 victory.
