This weekend the Colorado Mammoth look to clinch a playoff spot with a win over division rival Minnesota Swarm, who also have a 6-8 record. The Swarm are coming off of a 13-15 loss to the Philadelphia Wings.
The Swarm are lead by Ryan Benesch and captain Callum Crawford on offense. Both players have over 70 points this season. Â Crawford is fourth in the league in assists (53) and fifth in points (80).
On defense Tyler Haas has forced 23 turnovers and goalie Tyler Carlson has a 10.39 goals against average, which is second best in the league. Jordan ManIntosh has been effective on face-offs and has the second most loose balls this year.
The Mammoth knocked off the Red Hot Edmonton Rush last week in Alberta to keep their post-season hopes alive. Tye Belanger was named Defensive Player of the Week after a stellar performance; making 48 saves on 55 shots on goal. With Belanger in goal the Mammoth have been 4-1, he seems to be the stability the team was searching for at the beginning of the season.
The next two games between these teams are sure to be thrillers, as both need wins to make the post-season. Look for Belanger to be the decider in this game, if he has another big night, the Mammoth should be able to subdue the Swarm and come away with a win.
