We broke the story last month that Jeremy Noble would not play for the Rochester Knighthawks this season. Rochester traded Johnny Powless to the Vancouver Stealth to acquire the second overall pick, and thus Noble.
“It’s nothing against Rochester, Mr. Styres [owner and GM Curt Styres], anyone in the organization, any teammates. I have no problem with Rochester.” Noble told Inside Lacrosse. “But for living purposes and work purposes it just wouldn’t work out to be there now. It’s unfortunate that it’s come down to that, but I have no problem with Rochester or the organization, I think they’re first class.”
Our sources indicated in our original report that the Colorado Mammoth and Minnesota Swarm were in play to acquire Noble. Our sources still tell us that the Mammoth are willing to trade for Noble, but now that he has said he won’t play in Rochester, the Knighthawks might not get as much for him.
“The Mammoth can afford to wait for a deal with their depth at the moment, however, don’t be surprised to see a deal before the holdays” a source tells us.
There is a chance that Noble would just sit out the entire season. If that’s the case, the Knighthawks just traded a player in Powless who won three championships with the team for nothing in return.
Vancouver did field offers from Colorado and Minnesota for the pick.
