A four year cycle of players is a unique thing amongst the collegiate level. For the Fairfield Stags, a team that went 12-4 last year, they are fortunate to have a handful of talented returners. The Stags find themselves looking back on a disappointing 2014 campaign. Fairfield was taken down by Air Force in the ECAC championship with a final score of 9-8. For the Stags it was a harsh loss as the team was just short of making a remarkable comeback to end their season.
But this year is a new year for Fairfield. Four out of their top five scorers are returning this season. One of Fairfield’s top goal scorer, TJ Neubauer, will be going into his junior season. Neubauer put up 33 goals with 38 points last season, tying the team in goals lead. The Stags leading point getter, Colin McLindon, will be entering his senior year. McLindon racked up 51 points with Fairfield last season which helped him reach his 100 career point mark with the Stags. McLindon currently hold 107 career points with Fairfield going into his senior year.
The Stags are fortunate to have a numerous amount of returners for the upcoming season. Although the season did not end well for them last year, the high level of experience will surely help them this year. However there is always one important thing to note on a team that relies on their senior forwards. The team must spread the ball around the attacking zone and cannot rely on a one-trick pony. But for Fairfield, this has not been a problem.
