First Star- John St. John- Toronto Beaches
By taking the literal definition of Most Valuable Player, there’s no arguing that John St. John has made a serious case to be crowned the 2015 OLA Jr. A MVP. He continued his impressive season this past week with 17 points in three games. The Ajax,ON native sits fourth in scoring(70), third in goals(38) and fifth in assists(32), all while leading the Beaches to a 8-7 record, something Toronto has not seen in many years.
Second Star- Austin Shanks- Whitby Warriors
The Whitby Warriors got back on track this past weekend with two wins, including a ginormous victory over the Six Nations Arrows. Another possible MVP candidate, Austin Shanks chipped in with three points in the win, but his most impressive performance of the weekend came in a 12 point night versus the St. Catharines Athletics. The Bellarmine product leads all OLA Jr A scorers with 76 points.
Third Star- Mike DeGirolamo- Whitby Warriors
Mike DeGirolamo served up Six Nations their second loss of the year with 36 saves on 41 shots this past Sunday. The Edmonton Rush prospect also aided the Warriors to a convincing 15-2 victory over St. Catharines on Friday night. The Albertan keeper stopped all but one of the 26 shots he faced in 40 minutes of play before he was given the rest of the night off. DeGirolamo’s 7.43 GAA is good enough for second among all OJALL netminders.
