Garrett Billings was the February NLL player of the month as the Toronto Rock sit atop of the NLL standings. I had a chance to catch up with the MVP candidate about the season thus far.
MI: How do you feel about the start for Toronto?
GB: I think we have had a similar start to the last few years. We came blazing out of the gates and started with a great record. Unfortunately we have hit that mid season lull that has haunted us the last few years.
MI: How do you rebound from the loss against Buffalo?
GB: I don’t think we actually played that bad. Three transition goals at the end of the game killed us, especially since we had just battled back. We just need to focus on Colorado and figure out how we are going to beat their defence.
MI: How do you beat a team like Colorado?
GB: Colorado should be a load to handle offensively. Everyone knows who they have in Prout, Jr and company and they can cause you some major damage. When we went there last year they came out firing and we never caught up
MI: How do you feel about winning player of the month?
GB: It’s a great honor knowing the talent around this league. I just wish we could have gone 4-0 instead of 2-2.
