The Chicago Outlaws have finally done it. In their third appearance in the Continental Indoor Lacrosse League finals, the Outlaws took home their first CILL Cup with a 20-13 win over the Grand Rapids Dragonfish.
The Dragonfish had beaten the Pittsburgh Octane 20-7 earlier in the day to get to the championship game and it became a rematch of the 2011 finals in which Grand Rapids won.
Chicago went up 3-0 early and they really never looked back as they finished their season at 8-1 overall. After just one quarter the Outlaws were up 9-2 with Kyle Burker scoring the hat trick in just that first period.
Cam Holding, a member of the Team Canada field lacrosse team and of the Colorado Mammoth, scored back to back goals for the Dragonfish to make the game a 10-4 defect in the second. At the half, the Outlaws held a 13-6 lead as they were held to four goals in the second.
At the start of the fourth quarter Chicago still held a 17-11 lead and they just had to hold on to win. They would score three times in the fourth and take the title by a 20-13 score.
