The Denver Outlaws have won their third game of the season and their 23rd straight regular season game as they defeated the Boston Cannons on Saturday night, 10-9 in overtime.
Justin Pennington kicked off the Outlaws scoring early and Denver held a 3-1 lead until Boston tied it and eventually went ahead. The Outlaws tied the game at four in the waning seconds of the first half on a rain-soaked field, and the teams went to the half eight seconds early.
After a 52 minute lightning delay, the Cannons took a 6-5 lead in the third quarter. Paul Rabil assisted on both third quarter goals from the Cannons; one from Kevin Buchanan and one from Mike Stone.
Denver scored four straight times in the fourth to take a 9-7 lead, and the Cannons tied the game with 27 seconds left with another score from Buchanan.
In overtime, the Cannons had the first chance to score before a save from Jesse Schwartzman sent the Outlaws on a fast break chance. They initially hit the post but the rebound directed right to Chris Bocklet who buried his second goal of the game and sent the Outlaws home happy with a win.
Schwartzman made 24 saves in the win and the Outlaws dominated in the faceoff department with Chris Eck out, Anthony Kelly winning 17 out of 23 faceoffs.
Eric Law put up four points, three of which were goals, while John Grant Jr and Bocklet each scored three points. On the Cannons end, Buchanan scored four points, including a hat trick, while Rabil added four assists. The other multi point game came from two goals from Jack Rice.
The Cannons take on the Charlotte Hounds at home next week while Denver hosts the Rochester Rattlers.
