We had another great weekend of college lacrosse. Let’s start with the big game on Sunday, #3 Syracuse vs. #5 Virginia. The Orange took the game 15-9, but the game was all Syracuse for the first three periods. Syracuse got off to a 7-0 start, led by Nicky Galasso. The Virginia attack had few possessions and when they did get the ball UVA’s attack and midfield took quick and poorly…

NLL Three Stars: Week Nine
We had some very exciting lacrosse and some unbelievable performances this past weekend. Some of which included goaltenders not only standing on their head to make some unreal saves, but also had a goalie score a goal, and not on himself. 1-Rob Hellyer–(5G/5A–Tor) Hellyer was a beast on Friday night. Hellyer’s first goal at :35 of the second quarter put the Rock in the lead until Edmonton tied it…

The Western Lacrosse Association announced yesterday that the New Westminster Salmonbellies have traded goaltender Matt Roik to the Victoria Shamrocks in exchange for a fourth round draft pick in 2016. The Toronto Rock are on a roll; the team is 8-1 and comfortably in first place in the east. However, one mystery surrounds the team; where is Garrett Billings? Billings’ agent tweeted earlier in the month that the forward was cleared to play in the National Lacrosse League. He tore his ACL against the Vancouver Stealth last season and was projected to return in February. However, one problem remains. The…

Jamieson Scores Game Winner Again for Knighthawks
The Knighthawks celebrated Hall of Fame Night tonight by defeating the Calgary Roughnecks, 12-11 at Connors & Ferris Field at The Blue Cross. With former players looking on, Cody Jamieson scored the game-winner with 3:48 to play to extend Rochester’s winning streak to four games. The game was a rematch of the 2014 NLL Championship Series and it once again featured a late Matt Vinc save to preserve a one-goal…
Cornell Tops Albany in Dallas
In freezing rain and snowy conditions, the No. 7 Cornell men’s lacrosse team defeated No. 10 Albany at SMU’s Ford Field in Dallas at the seventh annual Patriots Cup. After trailing 3-1 midway through the first quarter, the Big Red went on a 10-2 run to take control of the game en-route to the decisive victory. Connor Buczek led the Big Red with five goals and one assist, while Matt…
Stealth Stomp Swarm 21-15
Saturday Night’s game between the visiting Minnesota Swarm (3-5) and the Vancouver Stealth (4-4) saw two teams trying to stay at .500 in the first half of the season. Vancouver’s key to success would be silencing rookie sensation Miles Thompson, for the Swarm keeping Vancouver’s potent offense at bay, and shaking the confidence of Tyler Richards early. The first quarter saw Vancouver jump out to an early lead off a…
