Pollock, Roughnecks, Look to Get Back on Track

The battle of the two struggling teams in the NLL standing wise goes tonight 7pm MT at the Scotiabank Saddledome between the newly expanded New England Black Wolves (3-5) and the Calgary Roughnecks (2-8).

The Roughnecks are coming off a blow out loss to three time defending champions Rochester Knighthawks 13-7 in a game that looked like the hometown squad had brought their A game with a great first half holding off a potent offence to have a tie game 4-4 but with a coaching adjustment made at half time by the Knighthawks they took advantage of a weak side to pull ahead in the third quarter and never looked back.
On the opposite side of the floor an up and down year continues for the Black Wolves after beating Minnesota last week in a tight affair 10-9 but losing the previous three games. The franchise who has looked good at times beating Rochester in week two 17-7 hasn’t figured out how to be consistent about it.They own the lowest goals for in the league but also the third lowest goals against. They also only have one player in the top 20 in scoring Kevin Crowley.
In the teams only meeting last year while the New England franchise was still called the Philiadelphia Wing the Roughnecks won 13-9, but, that really doesn’t mean much considering how much change the Black Wolves went through roster wise in the off season during the relocation.
If either team wants any shot at the post season, this weekend could be a huge momentum builder…or killer.
