The Rochester Rattlers of Major League Lacrosse have announced their captaincy for the upcoming 2014 season. Head Coach Tim Soudan confirmed the appointment of Attackman Kevin Leveille and Goalie John Galloway as co-captains.
Leveille, a 10 year veteran of the MLL from the University of Massachusetts, amassed a total of 19 points (13G, 6A) in 12 games as the Rattlers captain during the 2013 season. “We are really fortunate to have some natural leaders on the team and Kevin returns as a captain. He is a leader on and off the field and supports the staff. His experience in this league provides the younger guys with valuable insights” stated Coach Soudan.
Galloway will be entering his 4thyear with the Rattlers organization. He is a former Rattlers Rookie of the Year winner, and finished his career as Syracuse’s and the NCAA’s all time leader in wins with 59, and minutes played by a goalie (3,776). Soudan added “John Galloway is also a tremendous leader and as he steps in this year, I know he will do a great job. As a goalie he has done a fantastic job being a leader on the defensive end of the field as well as in the locker room.”
Leveille and Galloway (along with Dave Lawson) were named to Team USA by US Lacrosse earlier this year, and will play in the MLL All-Star game featuring Team USA vs. Team MLL at Harvard Stadium on June 26th, 2014 and in the FIL World Championships held in Denver on July 10th.
The Rattler’s season begins on April 27th on the road against the New York Lizards. The home opener is scheduled for Friday, May 2nd, 7:30 pm vs. The Boston Cannons at Sahlen’s Stadium in downtown Rochester.
