The trades leading up to the 2014 Major League Lacrosse collegiate draft have begun. The New York Lizards sent their number two overall pick, and their 32nd along with midfielder Justin Turri, to the Rochester Rattlers in exchange for the third and fourth overall picks.
The Rattlers had the third and fourth picks back to back, so they move up one pick plus adding the third rounder, so it appears they have a set target at the second overall pick that they did not want to risk losing. The Lizards also seem thrilled about the back to back first rounders, giving up recently acquired midfielder Justin Turri.
Turri was a member of the Denver Outlaws last season but was traded to the Lizards for former MLL rookie of the year Matt Gibson before last month’s supplemental draft. Turri has played on four teams in his MLL career, and he was the 9th overall pick by Charlotte in 2012.
