Rattlers Touch Down in Florida For Battle with Launch

The Florida Launch (4-3) play host tonight in a showdown against the Rochester Rattlers (4-3). Rochester looks to sweep the Launch in their two-game season series after beating them in Rochester in Week 5, 18-11. With only three teams above .500 in Major League Lacrosse this match-up looms large for both teams. Florida certainly has the edge tonight in Vegas, Rochester has recorded all three losses on the road, while they have won four at home it’s clear they’re having some trouble winning away from Sahlen Stadium.

The broken record continues of Casey Powell leading the league in points; we’re starting to get to the point in the year when we talk about season MVPs. Well he’s really starting to show he’s more and more worthy of winning an MVP award this season.

Rochester added Jordan Wolfe to their roster for last week’s game, and Jordan had no problem adjusting to the speed of the game at this level as he scored four times an added one assist. Adding him with Miles Thompson could be trouble for Florida.

Florida Launch attack-man turned midfielder, Mario Ventiquattro told me coming into this game, “It’s going to be a battle, we need to get this win.” The Launch understand the importance of tonight’s game looking forward to what they want to accomplish this year.

With the MLL All Star Game next Thursday, there are 11 players total from each roster playing for both Team MLL and Team USA. Florida’s Kevin Crowley and Brett Queener were added to Team MLL, while Tucker Durkin and Garrett Thul will represent Team USA. Rochester’s Mike Manley, Justin Turri, John Ortolani, and Joel White were all selected to Team MLL, while John Galloway, Dave Lawson, and Kevin Leveille are representing USA for Rochester.

Florida and Rochester are tied atop the league in MLL weekly award winners this season, they each have four winners, will that trend continue? Don’t miss the action, faceoff is set for 7:30 pm at FAU Stadium in Boca Raton, Florida. You can also watch the game live on CBS Sports Network.
