The Brooklin Redmen are in the Major Series Lacrosse playoffs, and they are prepared to face the reigning Mann Cup champion Peterborough Lakers.Hopcroft was eighth in the league in scoring this season for the Redmen, having a terrific year for himself and he was the week 9 player of the week in MSL for the first time of his career.
“It’s definitely an honor to get the award and feels pretty awesome to get noticed for the offensive accomplishments.” says Hopcroft.
Hopcroft had 65 points this season. The last time he had that many was when he scored 85 in 2011. “I think there are a few things that have allowed me to step my game up this season. 1 main thing I would say is that we have a few more guns on offense (Matisz, Prout, Aquin, Brownell) that are more of a threat this year which also takes attention away from my self and Shawn Williams to do our jobs on offense. And the other is that with these other players on offense I have been getting inside and getting more chances to score instead of just having the outside shot most players know me for.”
Hopcroft was the second leading scorer with the Redmen behind the 103 from Shawn Williams. Tonight the Redmen open up their series with the Lakers.
