The Toronto Rock (7-3) remain at the top of the NLL standings after a 14-10 home victory versus the Colorado Mammoth (2-7). The loss continues a five game losing streak for the Mammoth.
Colorado had a hot start to begin the game, leading 4-2 at the end of the first quarter. However, the Rock would acquire a 9-6 lead heading into halftime and would not look back en route to their third home victory of the year.
Captain Colin Doyle led the Rock with a 2 goal and 6 assist performance. Garret Billings followed close behind with a 7 point night. Billings continues to lead the Rock in all offensive categories with 20 goals and 46 assists for 66 points on the year.
Transitional player Jesse Gamble also recorded his first career hat-trick in the victory, earning MVP honours for the game. Blaine Manning also had three goals on the night.
Nick Rose stopped 41 of 51 shots in the effort for Toronto. Dan Lewis turned aside 17 of 25 shots before being pulled for Tye Belanger who finished the game for the Mammoth, allowing 6 goals on 21 shots faced.
John Grant Jr. and Adam Jones both registered five points for Colorado in the loss. Sean Pollock also contributed four points on the night, while Matt MacLeod and Jordan McBride each notched three points each.
Colorado will hit the floor at the First Niagara Center in Buffalo for a 7:30 p.m. game versus the Bandits.
Toronto will travel to Philadelphia next week for ass Saturday afternoon matchup against the Wings.
