Bandits Hope To Stay In East Race

Tonight the Buffalo Bandits host the Colorado Mammoth at the First Niagara Center, looking for another win to keep themselves in the race for first place in the Eastern Division. They’ll be hoping to take advantage of a Colorado Mammoth team who is now at 2-7 and is coming off a loss last night up in Toronto. The Bandits, who should be a bit more fresh, sit one game back of the Rock.

Colorado has certainly underachieved this season. The Mammoth, who were 11-5 last season riding John Grant Jr.’s spectacular season, currently sit last in the Western Division.    Even with their 2-7 record they are still only a half game out of a playoff spot behind the Minnesota Swarm.

Colorado’s struggled have started from the goalie position. After starting the season with Chris Levis at goal, they eventually decided to cut him due to poor play. Then they moved to Dan Lewis and Tye Belanger, before bringing in former Rock goalie Matt Roik. When Roik didn’t work they cut him as well. Both Belanger and Lewis got time in goal last night as the Mammoth goaltending carousel continued.

The Bandits are coming off a 11-10 overtime loss to the Philadelphia Wings in a game that Buffalo was leading up until two seconds left in the fourth quarter. Coach Darris Kilgour was upset with the outcome of the game, saying that they did enough to deserve a victory. With the Bandits splitting last weekend, they can use every win they can get in the closing stretch.

The game kicks off at 7:30 from the First Niagara Center in Buffalo, NY. You can watch the game live as usual on the Lacrosse Network. You can also follow @LacrosseWeTrust to see all my live tweets from the game.
