The Toronto Rock today re-signed forwards Rob Hellyer and Kasey Beirnes as NLL free agency began.Beirnes signed a three year deal with the club after a career year. Other than Garrett Billings, he is their top righty shooting forward on their depth chart. Hellyer is another right handed shooter, so the Rock shore up that side of their offense.
Beirnes was fifth on the Rock last season with 54 points, his best season since 2004 when he scored 60. Over his career Beirnes has gone unnoticed as a very productive scorer who can get points in the 50s and 60s and consistently in the 40s. Back in 2004 when he had 60 points was with Arizona, and his career high 62 in 2003 was with Columbus.
Last season Hellyer scored 11 points in nine games after he played in just one game in 2012, scoring two points. His first career season was in 2011 when the rookie scored 11 points in just three games.
The Rock also franchised their captain Colin Doyle today as they make their first three transactions of the off season.
