The Boston Rockhoppers were playing in their last game before their championship tilt in Kentucky, and it was surprisingly tight victory for them as they defeated the Rhode Island Kingfish 15-14.
Boston was led by goaltender Chris Hettler, replacing an injured Vincent Talbot who was hurt during warmups. Mike Stone also scored four goals while Ryan Hotaling and Tommy Palasek each had hat tricks. They got two goal efforts from Marty Bowes and Andrew Kirkaldy.
Rhode Island got strong efforts from new faces James Synowiez and Justin Otto combined for five goals, with three from Synowiez himself. The Kingfish acquired these two players from Baltimore a few weeks ago.
Boston had scored often in the fourth quarter but Rhode Island cut it to one goal with around ten seconds left, but were not able to score the game tying goal and fell to 0-4 on the season, and this was also their last game of the season.
Rhode Island saw a good performance from their netminder Joe Evans. However, it wasn’t enough as they have lost again. Boston has a chance to play for the championship next week in Kentucky. They have to hope Talbot is healthy and ready for it, and also play as well as they did a week ago when they won in Louisville.
