Seatown Classic to Bring Multiple Pros Together in Seattle for Clinics

This Saturday October 18th the Washington State Chapter of U.S. Lacrosse will be hosting the 3rd annual Seatown Classic. This year the Classic will be showcasing the U.S. National Team vs. the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. In 2012 fans got to see Maryland vs. Denver, and last year it was the ladies turn as USC played Oregon.

The U.S. National Team will have a local following, as Seattle native Drew Snider will be suiting up. The 6’0” 175lb Snider is coming off a huge game winning goal for the Denver Outlaws in the MLL Championship game. Snider has been on the local news, papers, and Internet for the past few months helping to promote the friendly contest. Snider was part of the National team’s 30-man roster before it was trimmed down to the final 23.

Portland native, and 2012 Tewaaraton Trophy winner Peter Baum will also be representing the red, white, and blue. The 6’ 1” 195lb midfielder is coming off a very successful rookie season in the MLL and should make an immediate impact on the team.

Most notable will be superstar midfielder Paul Rabil making his return to the Seattle area. A former member of the NLL’s Washington Stealth, Rabil is no stranger to the lacrosse fans or scene here in WA State. Paul amongst others will be participating a skills clinic, which should be a highlight to the weekend for local players. Local coaches will also get a treat to a coaches clinic with guest speakers/coaches from the U.S. National team Kevin Cassese and  Jeff Tambroni. They will both be joined by Notre Dame head coach Kevin Corrigan and his top assistant Gerry Byrne.

Notre Dame will most likely use this game as a tune up to their upcoming season. Much like Denver uses their matchup with the Denver Outlaws to prepare for a run at an NCAA Championship. Notre Dame is no stranger to top level play after a very close loss in last years NCAA Championship game to Duke University. What better way to get back to the big dance than to play one of the top teams in the world.

The weather may not be hot this Saturday in Tukwilla, WA but the action on the field most certainly will be. Game time is 2 p.m. at Starfire Sports Complex, tickets are still available pre sale till the end of the day October 16th, so be sure to buy them today. Big thanks to all the hard work by the U.S. Lacrosse WA Chapter for putting this great event together again this year, growing the game in the greater Seattle area.
