With all of the transactions in the National Lacrosse League the past few days, there has also been some in the Western Lacrosse Association.
The Victoria Shamrocks have signed Rhys Duch (Vancouver Stealth), Scott Ranger (Calgary Roughnecks), Corey Small (Edmonton Rush) and Karsen Leung (Calgary Roughnecks). All four of the NLL players signed were a part of last year’s team that went to the Mann Cup.
“It’s shaping up to be another exciting roster,” Coach Bob Heyes said. “We have good core of local veterans we are building our offense around with guys like Duch & Small and our 2014 Draft class supports that in spades.”
Small has missed the entire NLL season with a knee injury and it’s unclear if he’ll be ready to play this summer. Ranger has also faced injuries this year and is yet to return to Calgary, but he’s considered day-to-day and will be likely ready for Shamrocks season.
