On Friday night the Victoria Shamrocks took on the Burnaby Lakers in game three of their playoff series. Victoria led the series 2-0 after two dominant performance and were looking for a third straight win while Burnaby was looking to get back into this series.
Victoria took control of this game early as Rhys Duch and Cory Conway scored consecutive goals to give Victoria a 2-0 lead. Victoria looked to keep the pace going but Dane Stevens would score to put Burnaby on the board and cut the lead to one. Victoria would answer back with another two goal streak to put them ahead 4-1 after one period of play.
In the second period Scott Ranger would continue Victoria dominance scoring just two minutes into the period and extending the Shamrocks lead to four goals making it 5-1. Burnaby would try to fight back in this game on a goal from Casey Jackson cutting the lead back to three and making it 5-2. Burnaby though could not stop the Victoria attack as they once again gave up consecutive goals allowing the Shamrocks to go ahead 7-2. Burnaby would once again attempt to make this a game as Shaun Dhaliwal score to make it 7-3 but that was the end of Burnaby’s offense for the night. The Shamrocks would proceed to score 10 unanswered goals over the next two periods as the crushed the Lakers 17-3 and took a commanding 3-0 lead in the series.
The Shamrocks made a statement in this game as they totally outclassed Burnaby as they beat Burnaby at every turn in this game and did not give Burnaby any ground. Every time Burnaby tried to get back in this game Victoria would knock them back down with consecutive goals. Victoria is now one step closer to making their way to the WLA final.
