Ryan Benesch is now the newest member of the Six Nation Chiefs. There have been talks for the past few weeks that Ryan would be traded.
Six Nations has two of his roommates from this past winter in the NLL in long time friend Dhane Smith and Brandon Goodwin. Plus after Cody Jamieson went down during the Knighthawks second round playoff game and it was known he would be out for summer the Chiefs needed to make a big move.
Last week the Chiefs opened up their season facing Ryan Benesch and the rest of KW’s team.
Before last night’s game Ryan was not there till the team went out for their final warm ups and it was known. You could see the excitement in the team to as team officials rushed getting him Chiefs gloves and a new white helmet to wear.
For Benesch he had over 100 points this NLL season and is a big time player as a former number one overall pick and rookie of the year he can help in getting the Chiefs their third straight Mann Cup.
For Six Nations they had to trade players such as Kedoh Hill, Ian Lord and Scott Defrancasco to KW to make this deal happen. Scott is known more around the Senior B and Clax circuit but has played four regular season games for Six Nations the past two summers and suited up for the first two this season.
Scott has played well and can score in the MSL, which makes him a good fit in KW. Ian Lord is a Rochester Knighthawk a very good NLL player but look to the fact that Marty Hill is back after missing all last year hurt and new pick up of Brandon Goodwin as the reasons to why the Chiefs did not mind trading away Ian.
Now for Kedoh it did not seem like he would get traded after signing with the club just the other week. For his first two summers in Senior, Kedoh played for the Chiefs helping the team to the 2013 Mann Cup but after one game last summer he went out and played Senior B for the Kanawake Mohawks.
After having a break out winter in the NLL for the Bandits it looked like a big pick up getting him back in a Chiefs uniform this summer.
He showed up playing good on offense and defense in the first two games of the season but KW is run by some of the Bandits personal and he was the big piece for KW to get to make the deal go down.
We will have to see how things go down but it looks to be a great job once again by the Six Nation Chiefs.
