The Kentucky Stickhorses picked up their first win of the season last night when they defeated the Rhode Island Kingfish at hone, 17-14.
Travis Bland led the team with four goals while Mike McClellan picked up three, so both new offensive players contributed the way they were expected.

“We’ve got our building blocks here.” said Rhode Island defender Ryan Licht in the team press release. “We have a good group of local guys that are adapting ot the box game. A couple of us veterans are teaching them. We’re all positive; this is positive team.”
Also scoring were Stefan Schroder, George Castle, Max Schmidt, Eric O’Brien, Ryan Macaiszek and Ed Provest. In net was Spencer Lyons for the second straight game. He made 29 saves while Joe Evans made 34 for Rhode Island.
“Rhode Island showed us that they have a lot of great athletes and lacrosse players.” said McCarthy. “They worked well together as a team and wouldn’t allow us to pull away from them
“Well we knew we had to come out and set the tempo right from the start And we all had a bad taste in our mouth from the lead we gave up last week”
