The Bandits have had an interesting season so far, sitting at 5-5 with their new look roster this season. With more than half the season gone, today we look at who the three players are that are on the upswing and the three that aren’t looking nearly as good.
Three Up
Dhane Smith- He’s lived up to all expectations people should have had for him. The Bandits have had trouble of late picking up great players in the draft, but they finally hit the hammer right on the head with Smith. He currently sits a top the team with 15 goals but beyond the stats, he has also shown incredible lacrosse smarts. We’ve got the future of the Bandits right here.
Shawn Williams- I was a bit skeptical with Williams in his first few games, but as the season has gone along he seems to have found his place on the team. Although he does disappear at points, he’s putting up great numbers in the assists department. For what they gave up for him, Williams was a nice addition.
Aaron Wilson- Wilson was a late addition to the roster when it looked like Wiles wasn’t going to report, but he has been so much more to the team than that. He’s tied with Smith with 15 goals, already more than he scored last season, and has become a valuable part of the Bandits offensive unit.
Three Down
Tracey Kelusky- Kelusky had a rough season last year, and this year hasn’t been much different. He only has four goals and six assists in the seven games that he’s played for the Bandits.
Hayden Smith- The Bandits second pick in this year’s draft hasn’t exactly panned out, at least not for this season. He has played in four games this season, and he seemed rather lost. He’s been sitting up in the pressbox as of late, and the defense has looked a ton better.
Jimmy Purves- Yes, he was traded today but he still has been a member of the Bandits this season. Last year Purves showed potential to be a very solid transition player in the league. This year he seemed to become more and more undisciplined, which seemed to be his downfall. We’ll see if he can get things going in the right direction in Rochester.
