Thunder Host Shamrocks As Victoria Looks for Momentum

The Langley Thunder come rumbling into this matchup one mere game ahead of the Victoria Shamrocks. Game time is tonight 7:45 pm in Langley, E.C.

THE STATS

Shamrocks are led by offensive powerhouse Corey Small who has recorded 28 points (15 goals, 13 assists) in just nine games. He’s been a League Leader and Top Three Star for ILWT this week

The ironic side of Small is that this team averages a shot percentage of .210 and he has .217. His size is the advantage as he slips, slides and rolls under and around defensive pressures.

Rhys Duch follows Small on the stats board, gathering 22 points from 11 goals and assists, each. His shot percentage towers over Small with a .275, and the third place offensive member has a .273, Jesse King. The three players seem to find a healthy balance of shooting versus feeding.

Goaltender Matt Flindell boasts a save percentage of over 80, and has played the entirety of the season (with the exception of 4 minutes in which backup Cody Hagedorn had nothing happen.

Leading the Thunder is Alex Turner with 23 points off of nine goals and 14 assists. Athan Iannucci records 18 points from 6 goals and 12 assists.

Turner and Iannucci both find numerous opportunities to distribute the ball around to all players, making the entire team an offensive threat.

THE TEAMS

As just mentioned, Langley is a distribution team. There are no individual players to cover because almost everyone finds multiple opportunities. This means the Shamrocks are going to need to be ready for quick, spontaneous subbing situations.

Shamrocks have a few offensive players with very unique qualities, and other players surprise opponents. Their biggest asset is in Flindell guarding the cage, and he will be tested tonight against the Thunder.
