The Canadian Lacrosse League season is kicking off in January, and with it several NLL prospects and hopefuls will begin their journey to the pros. Which players are the tops of CLax? Last season we saw players like Pat Saunders and Damon Edwards make the jump.
Colin Boucher- Durham
Playing in 14 games last season with Durham, Boucher picked up 14 points. But what is a bigger asset to any NLL team is the 6’5 frame of this rock solid defender. Boucher was able to score more with the rules of CLax, but in the NLL he’d be a solid defender or two way transition man.
Jason Mainer- Barrie Blizzard
Mainer split time with both Oshawa and Brampton last season. He had 33 points over all, with 21 of them being assists. In 2011 he went to training camp with the Edmonton Rush but didn’t make it. He is the highest scoring player from last season on the Barrie roster.
Andrew Potter- Niagara Lock Monsters
Potter has been around the NLL a bit, in Washington and Rochester, and he was the top pick to CLax this season. Potter has WLA experience with the Langley Thunder. He played his Jr A ball at St. Catharines, and was the first player sent to Niagara for the season. He should have a huge year.
Brad Levick- Toronto Shooting Stars
Levick played with the Oshawa Machine last season, and they are now the Toronto Shooting Stars. The righty out of Newmarket scored 55 points in 14 games last season with Oshawa. He had 18 of those points on the Power Play and was fifth in the league in scoring last season.
Jackson Gair- Toronto Shooting Stars
The 26 year old scored 36 points with Oshawa last season and will be playing for the Stars in 2013. He had 19 goals and six power play goals along with nine power play assists.
Brad Favero- Niagara Lock Monsters
Favero was a stud with Brampton in 2012, and was sent to Niagara in a trade earlier in the off season. He scored 56 points, good for third in the league. At 28 years old, Favero is a veteran but also very good, and could see NLL time in the future.
Dylan Llord- Brampton Inferno
Llord was tied with Favero with 56 points on Brampton, leading an electric offense. 36 of his points were assists, so he is a strong play maker. Llord is a tall, 6’3 right handed shooter.
Aaron Grayson- Durham Turf Dogs
Grayson was at camp with the Minnesota Swarm but was cut. However, he is getting older at now 28 years old, to be 29 in January. He scored 49 points last season with Durham, and also had 59 penalty minutes.
Bradley Kiri- Brampton Inferno
The defender was cut from the Toronto Rock out of Training Camp, so he will get a chance to play with Brampton. We should see him back in the NLL at some point.
Mike Attwood- Iroquois Ironmen
Attwood was one of the top goalies in CLax with the Ironmen last season, bringing the team to a Championship. He was in camp for the Colorado Mammoth and was reported to play well in a pre season tilt against the Minnesota Swarm.
