The Durham TurfDogs made their first trade of the season last night as they send Mitch Dumont, Graham Bergsma, Tyler Tanguay and their third round pick to the Niagara Lock Monsters in exchange for the first and second round picks for the upcoming Toronto dispersal draft, along with a player to be named later and a conditional second round pick.
Dumont played in Niagara this summer with the St. Catharines Saints of the Sr B league where he won the President’s Cup as an assistant captain. He scored 27 points with the TurfDogs last season while Bergsma scored 65 points in two seasons with Durham. Tanguay, a former draft pick of the Minnesota Swarm, had 31 points last season.
Via a press release, Jeff Dowling, the Niagara GM said, “Mitch Dumont was definitely the centre piece of this deal; he lives and works in St. Catharines. Mitch is a better person than he is a player, and as a player, he is very good. Unfortunately, the likelihood of Tyler and Graham playing this season is slim as both are in Europe at this time. We look forward to their return for the 2015 season.”
The dispersal draft for Toronto will take place next week via league conference call.
