First of all I’d like to congratulate the Kahnawake Mohawks on winning the QSLL championship. They fought hard and deserved the win with an amazing performance from their goaltender Derek Collins in the last three games of the series. I can’t stress enough how hard this lost was for us as a team and for me as an individual. One of the reasons why I haven’t written a blog in while was due to the fact that I had to take some time to process the whole thing.
Looking back at it with perspective, I’m thinking; that was a great series for both teams and for the fans. If I had been in the stances watching, I would have thought that it’s too bad one of them has to loose. In the end, both team played hard and the hand shake at the end of the battle was more sincere than ever.
Leaders were leaders in that series and every player who showed up to the games came to play. It is very common is sports to tell outsiders how great the group of people you had in the locker room was, but I’m afraid I cannot derogate from that cliché this time.
I think the future is very bright for the Voyageurs. Not only have we been very competitive throughout the whole season, but we’ve managed to build a strong fan base, especially in the playoffs. Fans were cheering ‘’let’s go Voyageurs’’ and were just as much into this battle as we were. I think the Voyageurs’ name has gained respect on the field and attention off the field.
In the next couple of weeks I’ll be trying out for the New Jersey Rascals. I feel ready and up to the challenge. I know some of my teammates in Vermont will also be trying out and I think they will impress. I will also be heading to Philadelphia in the fall to try and make a name for myself in the big league. I also can’t wait to go back to Boston and work hard for my spot on the Rockhoppers’ roster.
“Hard work pays off†so they say.
I hope you’ve enjoyed the blog. Until next time!
