On Monday June 2, the Denver Outlaws acquired Cameron Holding, Midfielder from the Chesapeake Bayhawks. In the trade, the Bayhawks acquired Stephen Robarge, Midfielder/Faceoff, and James Connelly, Defenseman, who was on the college inactive roster.
A native of Whitby, Ontario, Canada, Holding moved to Michigan in 2005 where he attended DeWitt High School. The midfielder attended Florida Southern University where he played two years of NCAA DII lacrosse. In 2011, he led Grand Valley State University to the Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Division II National Championship in 2011 where he completed his college career with 266 goals.
Holding was picked second overall in the 2014 MLL Supplemental Draft. Holding who has played transition for the Colorado Mammoth since 2012, scored a career high 11 points (2 G, 9 A) and had a personal best in 2013 with 86 LB; also appearing in 49 regular-season games for the Mammoth. His overall career includes: 13 G, 29 A, and 245 LB during the three years he has played in the NLL.
He stands at 6’1”, weighs 210 lbs, and is an all-around good lacrosse player who brings strength and speed to the Outlaws midfield. When you add him into the already outstanding group of mid-fielders on the Outlaws squad including: Jeremy Sieverts; Drew Snider; Terry Kimener; Justin Pennington; Domenic Sebastiani; Noah Molnar; and rookies Jeremy Noble and Colin Dunster, suffice it to say, the Outlaws have a midfield to be on the look-out for.
When I asked GM Tony Seaman his thoughts on the acquisition, here’s what he had to say:
“Cam Holding is an outstanding athlete and a terrific lacrosse player. We are very excited to have him on our Outlaw roster and look forward to seeing him compete for us in the very near future.”
With John Grant Jr. on Attack, also from the Colorado Mammoth and now a member of the Denver Outlaws, the familiarity these two players who will bring together as teammates for Denver, the scoring potential, and strength, the Outlaws made a great choice in bringing Holding in as a member of the Denver Outlaws.
