The Philadelphia Wings of the National Lacrosse League (NLL) have signed forward Brendan Mundorf and defenders Pat Heim and Josh Funk to one-year contracts for the 2013 season.
In his third season in Philadelphia, Mundorf ended 2012 second on the team with 44 assists. The Baltimore native and UMBC alumnus recorded 28 goals last season and has tallied 267 career points over five seasons in the league.
Local product, Heim, a Penn State alumnus, was drafted by the Wings in 2007 and will enter his sixth season in the league. The Wayne, PA native is looking to capitalize on his career high 44% face off win rate in 2012. Heim also retrieved 29 loose balls for the Wings last season.
Funk, a former Ohio State Buckeye, joins the Wings after two seasons playing with the NLL’s Minnesota Swarm. The six foot defender, figures to add depth to a defense that gave averaged nearly 13 goals against in 2012.
The Philadelphia Wings will open the 2013 season at home against the Buffalo Bandits at Wells Fargo Center on Friday, January 11, 2013 at 7 p.m.
