Maple Ridge Burrards 10 vs. Victoria Shamrocks 9
This was a big game for both teams as the Burrards were looking for win in order to move into second place while the Shamrocks were looking to secure their hold on first place with another win. Early on in the game the two teams exchanged goals as Riley Loewen scored for Maple Ridge while Scott Ranger scored for Victoria to tie the game 1-1. Maple Ridge would then take control of the game as Ben McIntosh and Curtis Dickson scored to give Maple Ridge the 3-1 lead. Victoria though would get a goal late in the period from Mitch Jones in order to make the score 3-2 at the end of one period of play.
In the second period Ben McIntosh would strike once again to give the Burrards a two goal lead the score was now 4-2. The Shamrocks though would not quit as Dylan Evans and Mitch Jones scored to tie the game 4-4. Maple Ridge though would once again regain the lead as Curtis Dickson and Riley Loewen scored consecutively to once again put the Burrards up by two as the Burrards now led 6-4. Victoria though once again had the answer as Cory Conway and Tyler Hass scored to tie the game 6-6 at the end of two periods of play.
In the third period Victoria would get their first lead of the game on a goal from Dan MacRae as Victoria led 7-6. Maple Ridge would not back down though as they scored two consecutive goals to take an 8-7 lead. The two teams would then exchange goals as the score would be 9-9 with just under four minutes left. The Burrards though would win this game as Curtis Dickson scored with one second left to give the Burrards the 10-9 victory. The Burrards ability to control Corey Small and Scott Ranger was the difference in this game. Curtis Dickson was the man of the match though as he had 8 points on the night and was the key reason for the Burrards win.
Nanaimo Timbermen 11 vs. New Westminster Salmonbellies 8
Nanaimo took control of this game early with two consecutive goals in order to take a 2-0 lead. New Westminster would cut the lead to one as Logan Schuss scored to make it 2-1. The Timbermen though would regain their two goal lead as Myles Dennett scored to give the Timbermen a 3-1 lead. The Salmonbellies would tie the game with two late period goals to make the score 3-3 at the end of one period of play.
In the second period the two teams would exchange goals to make the score 4-4. Nanaimo would take the lead though as Jake Emms scored to give the Timbermen a 5-4 lead. New Westminster would take control of this game though as they scored three consecutive goals two of which coming from Martin Cummings. At the end of two periods of play the Salmonbellies led 7-5.
Nanaimo would roar back in the third period scoring five consecutive goals in order to take a commanding 10-7 lead. The Salmonbellies would only manage one more goal which made the score 10-7. The Timbermen would walk away with a 11-7 victory. The third period was the turning point in this game as the Timbermen outscored the Salmonbellies 6-1. The Timbermen were led by the strong play of Zach Boychuk who made 46 saves on 54 shots and was the key reason for the Timbermen’s win.
